E. Rivers "Before" Shots

It was recently announced that the elementary school for which we are currently zoned will be renovated in the coming year to accommodate some new students after the APS rezoning.  So, I thought I would take some "before" shots so that we could see the progress over time.  We are not sure if Tripp will actually attend E. Rivers, as we may not be zoned for it when he enters kindergarten, depending on where we live at the time.  We are hoping to stay in this area, but time will tell!

Enjoy E. Rivers, Before:

Cupcake!

One of Tripp's classmates at daycare turned 1 last week, and it appears Tripp very much enjoyed his first cupcake as part of the celebration!

Hope everyone's having a good week!

Resolution 6: Beach + Pool + Grandparents = Happy Baby!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, while we were at the beach recently for Uncle Daniel's wedding, Tripp got to experience the pool for the first time (another of his 2012 Resolutions), and he loved it!  He was splish-splashing and having a great time.  He also got to cruise the beach and eat play with all the sand!  We were surprised there was any left on the beach after all the sand he ate.

Below are some photos from the Emerald Coast visit, starring Papa, Shug, and Grammy!  Lots of love in these photos!

All dry now!

I got a preview of what the summer holds for us, and I could not be more excited about spending days at the pool!  He is going to be a little fish, we can already tell!

Resolution 2: Attend Uncle Daniel & Aunt Whitney's wedding along the Gulf coast

Recently, Tripp knocked off another of his 2012 resolutions by attending the wedding of Uncle Daniel and Aunt Whitney in Destin, Florida.  He enjoyed his first visit to the Emerald Coast and his first swim in a pool (more photos to come from the beach & pool in another post).  He also got to visit with lots of the Roughen family & friends!

Below are a few of the moments captured over the long & relaxing weekend.

9 Month Stats

We recently visited the doc for Tripp's 9 month appointment, and got a great report on his health & development.  Everything looked great to the pediatrician, and he's developmentally "normal" which is a blessing!

Here are his stats for 9 months:

  • Weight:  19 lbs 10 oz, 50th percentile
  • Height:  28 inches,  40th percentile
  • Head Circumference: 18 inches, 90th percentile.... so he's smart! ha!
No shots this time, so I think he was pleased!

Birth-iversary in California

Matt and I were married on my birthday, so we get to celebrate doubly every year when March 1 rolls around.  This year, our parents tag-teamed caring for Tripp while I tagged along with Matt to his new home-away-from-home in California for our annual celebration.

We first spent a day in San Francisco, riding street cars and such.  Next, we embarked upon a fantastic jaunt down the coast to Half Moon Bay.  We spent the next two days hopping from one vineyard to the next in wine country and visiting with some of Matt's co-workers for a fabulous meal.  We spent our final day as uber-tourists back in San Francisco before taking the loooooong flight back to the South.  Below are some snapshots from our fun adventure.

In the interest of keeping it brief, I left out our time in Haight-Ashbury searching for the perfect tie-dye onesie for Tripp (I kid...) and the "Dead House," shopping under the influence in China Town for pashminas and other unnecessary items, the $2 Fat Tire drafts at a random bar we found, and the amazing Thai food in Little Italy.  All in all, it was a fun trip full of memories that we'll not soon forget.  It was comforting knowing that Tripp was in good hands with his loving grandparents!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!  We were at the beach for Matt's brother Daniel's wedding.  Stay tuned on a post soon about the fun & beautiful weekend in Destin, Florida!

Shoes!

Tripp has only recently started wearing shoes.  He is not quite walking yet, but doing enough "furniture surfing" to warrant some foot protection.   He looks like he is wearing bricks on his feet, which is amusing.

Happy Hump Day!

The "Stud" at Daycare

After spending some quality overnight time with both sets of grandparents while Matt and I were out of town celebrating our anniversary, Tripp returned to daycare this week to hang with all the ladies.  He isn't the only boy in his classroom, but from the looks of the photos below, he's the most popular with the chicks!

Hot Dogs & Babies

Recently, while celebrating our friend Sewell's birthday at a hot dog themed party, Tripp got to hang out with lots of his contemporaries from Matt's group of college friends.  Below are some photos from the fun afternoon!  Never a dull moment with so many kids!

From Left:
Charles Woolley with Ryder and Lily Brooks, Casey Clark with Harris and Hudson, Clay Yeager with Howe, Sewell Avant with Richard, Matt  Roughen with Tripp, Ben Edwards with Anna.

Anna and Lily Brooks are lucky girls to have these boys to protect them as they grow up!

From Left:
Anna Edwards (1 yr), Hudson Clark (7 mos), Tripp Roughen's back (8 mos, the only one who wouldn't cooperate -- go figure), Ryder (15 mos) & Lily Brooks (3 yrs) Woolley, Harris Clark (3 yrs).

Thanks to the Avants for having all of us!
