Fun With Jello

Once again, I am surprised (& strangely encouraged) by all the activities that the child care teachers do with our 6 month old son.  Last week's activity was playing with jello.  Jello seems simple and mundane, but apparently it provided the infants with boundless fun and excitement.  Below are some pictures of Tripp gettin' dirty.

Rivalry Saturday was a bust!

Rivalry Saturday did not go well for any of the teams that the Roughen family supports, but we didn't let that stop us from having a good time tailgating and enjoying the unseasonably mild weather here in Atlanta.

Giving Thanks.

It is once again the time of year for us to give thanks for all with which we have been blessed, and to all of those who help us be who we are and do what we do.  This year, I am particularly grateful for all of you who have been so supportive of us as new parents, and of Tripp as a new member of our family.  We are overwhelmingly grateful that you are in our lives.  Enjoy your turkey and football!

A Visit to Eatonton, Georgia

Recently, Tripp and his dad went to Eatonton, Georgia to visit Grammy & Pops Roughen.   Unfortunately, I had to work that day, so I couldnt' make the trek --- but from the looks of these pictures, they had a ball and Tripp got lots of love from his grandparents.

One of Tripp's new friends was Br'er Rabbit, who had a recent famed adventure in the briar patch.  He eventually was returned to his home after some arrests were made.  Who knew Br'er Rabbit had such felonious admirers?

Letters 2 Tripp

Inspired by a recent Google Chrome commercial called "Dear Sophie," I set up an gmail account for Tripp to which we can all send letters, stories, photos, etc.  I plan to give him the log in information at some point (when he's 18+) but thought it might be fun for family and friends to send notes to him as he grows up, tell him about memories when they are fresh, and give him something fun to read when he is old enough to appreciate it.  Watch the commercial below for ideas/info... WARNING: I teared up when watching it the first time.

Follow Friday: Southern Blogs

Happy Veteran's Day!  11/11/11 -- the only date in my lifetime that will have the same digit 6 times.  Interesting, isn't it?  or not...

This Friday, I'm sharing blogs that are all about the South.  After watching ESPN's latest film, Roll Tide/War Eagle on Tuesday night, I thought featuring the South would be apropos.  (The film, by the way, was very  well done.  If they do an encore showing, I'd recommend recording or viewing it... lots of good insight into the best and strongest rivalry in the nation)
Now, to the blogs.... Whether discussing SEC college football, sweet tea, fall & spring festivals, heat & humidity, or southern fashion & interior design, these blogs are sure to make any southerner proud.  For my yankee friends, these may help you better appreciate the South and all it represents... as you bundle up and watch the snow fall in October.

More of Tripp's New Friends

During a visit to Birmingham last weekend to visit Shug & Papa Ferguson, Tripp made a few new friends.   It was so much fun to watch him interact with another baby as well as some other folks.  Below are some of the photos we snapped over the weekend.

First up, the son of one of my oldest friends, Julian Bynum, and his wife, Jillian, came to visit all the way from NYC.  Introducing Mason Bynum (4 mos), who is just 5 weeks younger than Tripp.  These boys will have such a good time once they are able to play.

Finally, Tripp got to meet my God daughter, Katherine Grace Whatley (6 yrs).... and, this was his first time playing in an exer-saucer, which was a big hit.  KG & the exer-saucer kept him entertained while KG's mom, Mallie, and I caught up on all the news of the world.

In other news, I promised an update on rice cereal and just realized that I have not yet given one.  Tripp is doing great on solid foods and we're phasing out the rice cereal, but here is one picture of a recent rice cereal feeding... Messy, but worth it! Yum-O-La!

Happy (Belated) Birthday to Anna, Irene, & Brooks Nichols & Alice Perry!

Sorry for the lack of posting this week.  It has been crazy with work travel and training, so I have not had much time to update everyone on Tripp!

... but, you'll have to wait yet another day because this post is dedicated to some of Tripp's new friends.

Anna, Irene, and Brooks Nichols were born to parents Sage & Jack on November 1, 2011, All Saints Day.    Scoot on over to Nichols & Nonsense to check out their story & recent photos.  The triplets appear to be doing great and I am so excited that they are finally here!!  Congrats to the Nichols family!

Also, my friend Tarver also delivered her daughter, Alice Drennen Perry, on Friday, October 28, 2011.   Congrats to the Perry family - Tarver, Mitchell, and big brother, Will.

Lots of new babies in our high school crew.  Very exciting!  Welcome to the world, girls.  Tripp cannot wait to meet & flirt with all 4 of you!
