A Day At The Park

This weekend, while Matt was having fun (and winning money!) at Uncle Daniel's bachelor party in Biloxi, Mississippi, Tripp and I wandered over to our neighborhood park to see what it has to offer an 8-month old little boy.  The answer was "very little" but we had fun anyway.  Below are some photos of our adventure.

Peachtree Hills Park is conveniently located directly across the street from our complex.  It boasts tennis courts, a baseball field, a full size basketball gym, a great playground, a (short) walking trail, and a community garden.  We are lucky that it is so close!

Side note:  This is also where we vote.  Couldn't be more convenient on election day!

Here is a photo of the entire playground.  The sign (if you can't read it) says the park is for ages 2 to 5, explaining the lack of age-appropriate activities for Tripp.  Can't wait until he's older and can enjoy it even more!

1981 Farm Photos

While sifting through some files on our computer, I came across these photos from circa 1981 that I just had to share.  Someone scanned them and emailed them to our whole family several years ago -- can't remember who -- but they are great...

The photos were taken during a weekend at our family farm near Montevallo, Alabama.  The fashion is classic!

Resolution 1: Be Christened

The first of Tripp's 12 resolutions for 2012 was checked off the list recently.  On January 28, 2012, he was christened at the Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, Alabama.  The day was beautiful, weather was perfect, and Tripp was well behaved for most of the day... with a few exceptions.  Below are a few snapshots that my friend, Mary Margaret Rogoff, took of Tripp's special day.

After the service, Tripp slipped into something more comfortable and family and friends joined us at Shug & Papa Ferguson's house for a luncheon celebration.  We feasted on lots of good food, sipped on bloody marys, and enjoyed the Spring-like January day.

Friday, February 17, 2012

Haven't done a follow friday in a while, so I thought I would feature some of my favorite crafty/design blogs this week.  There are some very talented designers out there who share their ideas and projects online, and I just eat it up... all the while, dreaming of a day when we bust out of our 1,000 square foot condo and into a respectably sized "forever" home.  Stay tuned on that front.

Anyhoo, below are just a sample of some talented designer blogs that I follow occasionally.  I am not even sure how I stumbled upon some of these, but I hope you enjoy viewing, reading, (and dreaming!) as much as I do!

And... a sneak peak snapshot from Tripp's Christening (full post coming soon!)

Tripp Attempts Yoga

Impeccable Posture, Zen Achieved

Pretty good posture here, too. (While listening to the Spanish teacher)
I couldn't stop smiling when I see these photos of Tripp in what appears to be some sort of zen-ful yoga poses.  While our daycare facility is very advanced and state of the art, I do not think that the teachers there are teaching our 8 month old the proper downward dog technique.  Child's pose, on the other hand, may be in his repertoire...
Happy Thursday!

Weekend O' February Fun

This weekend was full of fun times and great weather.  We took advantage of the unseasonably mild February weather and spent lots of time outside.  Below are some photos of our weekend, pre-Super Bowl XLVI (go Football Giants!).

Taking a Stand

Though he is not quite pulling up on his own, if placed in a standing position, Tripp can stand up for several minutes on his own before plopping down on his bum.

Progress in the mobility department!  Happy weekend!
