Clean, Warm & Dry...

... after bathtime with dad.

Matt was on the west coast all of last week and we are very glad to have him back home with us.  Bathtime just wasnt the same without him here - Tripp loves his dad & it shows!

Dump Truck PJs

Not much new with Tripp.  He is getting better & faster at crawling and starting to really cover some ground!

... making it increasingly difficult to keep an eye on him.

Happy Tuesday!

MLK Day Playtime

MLK day is a big holiday in Atlanta, as you can imagine, so my office and the daycare are both closed for business.  Therefore, we are enjoying a long weekend with some extra play time.  Hope everyone had a nice weekend, even if it was not an extended one like ours has been!  Have a great week!

Messy & Lovin' It

Tripp is starting to eat more and more 'table' foods at daycare.  Each day, they love to tell me what new yummy treat he ate (and loved) from that day.  Our little oinker devours most anything they put on his tray, except anything green.  Takes after his daddy in that respect.

Anyway, thought some of you may enjoy this recent photo from him eating some unidentified culinary masterpiece.

And... since he's such a mess, he often runs out of 'cubby clothes' into which he can change during the day.  So one day, he ended up looking like this:

Hope he doesn't get a nickname in daycare of "Pink Pants."
That could really damage his ego.

7 months

Tripp flew past the 7 month mark this weekend has started rocking back and forth on all 4s, but (thankfully) not quite crawling yet.  He is, however, on the verge of bustin' a move.  He is experimenting with grasping for objects that are just beyond his reach, and has been shuffling/scooting some, both backwards and forwards.  Saturday morning, when I went into his room to get him up, he was sitting straight up in the crib, just talking and playing.  Time to lower the crib again, I suppose!

Many of you have told me that I need to appreciate & enjoy this stage because once he is mobile, it's an entirely different ball game... So, I am not pushing him to excel at crawling just yet.  Just taking it one day at a time!

In the food department --- Tripp is still enjoying anything pureed, and we have been experimenting with more table foods such as Ritz crackers, teething biscuits, and puffs.  He's getting to be rather good at using the sippy cup, though I think he prefers to bite it more than drink from it.

Below are some recent photos from daycare:

Feeding himself

Playing with a green car
(ironically while wearing a car on his shirt)

Eating his Q-tip/Paintbrush during an Art project

Tripp & Giraffe
In other news, my friend Erin Moore Allen just delivered a 9+ lb (still nameless) little boy in Jacksonville, Florida on Monday morning.  Tripp can't wait to meet the little guy & we wish the whole family the best!

Hope you're having a great week!

One year ageaux today...

This photo was taken outside our front door.  We were snowed in watching the Auburn Tigers win the BCS title.  Tonight feels different in so many ways!

Geaux Tigers!

No Travel Weekend

Tripp is glad to have a relaxing weekend in Atlanta after all the busy holiday weekends on the road.  He celebrated by taking a 3+hour nap this morning and waking up in a cheerful mood, his batteries fully recharged.

Hope everyone is enjoying a low-key weekend, too!

Hello, 2012!

Another leap year is upon us & we are having a hard time believing that it's been almost 7 months since Tripp has been in our lives and that he just experienced his very first new year's celebration.  Below are some photos of how we rung in the new year, this year on the shores of Lake Logan Martin in Pell City, Alabama surrounded by Papa, Shug, and some other great friends & family.

Surely a morning person, Tripp rings in the new year during breakfast on 1/1/2012.

We hope that each of you had fun celebrating the new year and that 2012 treats you kindly!

May your family share laughter, your songs always play.
May your wishes come true, even those left unprayed.

Happy 2012!
Meg

P.S. The Peach bowl was bittersweet, as the Auburn Tigers played my alma mater, UVA.  For the record, I was rooting for the Tigers, though I would have been happy for the 'hoos had they been able to pull it out, as it would've been a great win for their program --- and God Bless Mike London!  Great coach, role model, and all around good guy.

Great seeing some of you UVA folks in Atlanta before the game!  Hope that you had fun, despite the disappointment in the Georgia Dome :o)

Over the Moon for Caroline!

Over the Christmas holiday in Birmingham, we had the pleasure of meeting Miss Caroline Moon, daughter of my very oldest friend, Anne Hutto Moon & her husband, Dan.  Caroline was born in March before Tripp arrived in June of the same year.  Interesting, yet trivial fact:  Anne was born in June after I arrived in March of the same year.  They have almost the exact same age difference as their moms!

Below are a few photos of Caroline & Tripp's initial encounter.  They are going to be fast friends!

Caroline & Tripp, hangin' out

Caroline is a sweetheart!
Rest assured that we have some more photos (and video, actually) from this encounter that are hilarious & slightly controversial, but those will have to wait for the rehearsal dinner slide show.  Stay tuned (for the next 20+ years...)

Twelve in '12: In 2012, Tripp resolves to...

  1. Be Christened
  2. Attend Uncle Daniel & Aunt Whitney's wedding along the Gulf coast
  3. Hunt Easter eggs
  4. Celebrate his first birthday (3 times)
  5. Attend an Atlanta Spring festival
  6. Experience the pool
  7. Take his very first steps
  8. Celebrate with his cousin, Ann Fulton, for her 2nd Birthday
  9. Visit the animals at Zoo Atlanta and/or the Georgia Aquarium
  10. Root for the Jackets at a Georgia Tech home football game & accompanying tailgate
  11. Experience Masters Sunday (... likely from home, not The National)
  12. Get lots of love while visiting his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Ambitious little boy, isn't he?  Stay tuned for blog posts about all of these as 2012 unfolds.

"Wow, can you believe it's already 2012?"

Happy 2012!  Enjoy your greens & black eyed peas (... and football, too)!
