Resolution #7: Take his very first steps! (& Happy 60th Shug!)

Happy 60th birthday to Shug!  I am working on a belated post honoring her birthday, as there are some surprises in store this week, so stay tuned!

Tripp has been taking a step or two here and there for the last 6 weeks or so.  But, last night, he really took off and the game has officially changed.  Just shy of 14 months, we have ourselves a walker.  Not yet running, but getting around pretty good in baby Frankenstein mode.  Check out this video:

We've had a blast working with him and making this video.  There will be more to come...now that we've figured out how to use the video camera, the Mac and YouTube.

Challenge Accepted: All-Time Favorite Movies & Music

Recently, my ole' Mississippian pal Sage, mother of triplets and the world-famous Nichols & Nonsense blog, issued a challenge to us & some of her other blogging buds to finalize our lists of favorite movies & music... you know, the kind of favorite movies that you must watch each time you come across them while channel surfing.  And, the kind of music that tops the list of 'most played' songs on your ipod's statistics, whether you admit it or not.

Well, we were up to the challenge and have finalized our own lists... Forgive the indulgent post and enjoy!

Note to Sage:  I am surprised by the omission of Jenny Says by Cowboy Mouth and Red, Red Wine from your music catalog.

Matt’s Movies:
  • Shawshank Redemption
  • The Fugitive
  • Caddyshack
  • Heat
  • The Godfather (I and II)
Meg's commentary:  I saw a few notable omissions: Varied RomComs (romantic comedies), Gladiator, Braveheart, and The Patriot

Meg's Movies:
  • Shawshank Redemption
  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off
  • Dumb & Dumber
  • A Knight's Tale
  • Almost Famous
Honorable Mentions:  Gangs Of New York, Billy Madison, Slumdog Millionaire, The Hangover

Matt’s Playlist (and links to youtube videos for everyone’s viewing pleasure):
Meg's Commentary:  Notable omissions from this list include Madonna's entire Immaculate Collection... I kid, I kid...

Meg's Playlist (in no particular order and without links to youtube videos, because, well... I am lazy):
  •  Domino - Van Morrison
  •  May Your Glass Be Filled - Widespread Panic
  •  Chicken Fried - Zac Brown Band+
  •  Long Black Veil - Lefty Frizzell
  •  Never Going Back Again - Fleetwood Mac
  •  Reunion - Indigo Girls
  •  If You Wanna Get to Heaven - Ozark Mountain Daredevils
  •  One Week - Barenaked Ladies
  •  Lady Madonna - Beatles
  •  China Grove - The Doobie Brothers
  •  For Once In My Life - Stevie Wonder^
  •  The Mountains Win Again - Blues Traveler
  •  Already Gone - Sugarland
  •  Come Sail Away - Styx
  •  Dancin' in the Moonlight - King Harvest
  •  Southern Girl - Amos Lee
  •  Travelin' Back to Georgia - Nancy Griffith
  •  Elderly Woman Behind.... - Pearl Jam
  • When You Say Nothing At All - Alison Krauss
  •  Crossroads & Ghetto Cowboy - Bone*
  •  Mexico - James Taylor
  •  Heard It In A Love Song - Marshall Tucker Band
Notes:
+ Don't judge
^ First dance as Mrs. Roughen
* The clear outliers of this data set

I would be forever indebted to whoever might make a CD featuring all of these songs...

Carry on (my wayward son...) & happy weekend!

Belated Birthday Photos

Oops!  I forgot to follow up with the daycare birthday celebration photos.  On Tripp's actual birthday, I visited his classroom and surprised him with a birthday hat, a balloon, and some cupcakes.  While he is not a huge fan of any hats (or strings under his chin), he was a big fan of the cupcake & his surprise visitor.  His buddies also got to enjoy their fair share of icing and cake.  Enjoy these (belated) birthday photos!

"I Hate Strings!"

"... And I Hate Crowns"

"... but I LOVE my mom"

"... and Chocolate"
Happy Thursday!  One more day 'til the weekend!

Boxed In

One leg in...

... and an arm...

... Success!

Recently, while perusing the daycare photo albums, I came across this montage of Tripp showing off his flexibility and agility by climbing into the 'box' that is in their classroom.  Nothing if not adventurous!

Have a great week,
Meg

Moving Forward

We recently switched Tripp's carseat around so that he is facing forward.  So far, he seems to enjoy being able to see where he is going!

Happy Weekend!
